War

War

A Poem by Grace Coggins

You want a war. I don't want to fight.

All I want is to be left alone.

I've laid my armor down at your feet.

I stand before you, waving my white flag while screaming "surrender!", yet you can't seem to hear nor see me.

And on goes this war.

Maybe if my blood stains your hands, then you'll finally see, that at the end of the day I was just trying to love you. I never wanted to fight you. I didn't have the strength to.

I won't hurt you like you hurt me.

I refuse to.

So, I don't fight back.

I never will.

It seems you have great strength, but never become a punching bag. It rarely proves anything beneficial.

War....it is everywhere. Starting from one's own war with himself/herself to greater wars of life. Apparent simplicity of this write brings me a vision of two hearts standing on a battlefield, where one doesn't want to fight and while the other one wants to engage on the fight. One wants to love, the other wants to fight in the name of love.

As they say, love is the reason of war in this earth.

Well written work...
