Work Day

Work Day

A Poem by Heyns
"

Poem I wrote at work today.

"

Head is throbbing
Jack-hammers on my mind
Computer flashing
Leaving minutes behind

Cold water aspirin
Soothing comes too slow
Time’s a wastin’
Some digits still glow

Clock stopped
Or this is now over
Feel Robbed
Why do we even bother

Sweet relief
Hear the ice ‘n glass clink
Disbelief
Then again can’t think

Drink down
The fiery medicine
Now bemoan
What you could’ve been

Look up
Life still moves on
Look up
You were wrong

There is
Something you can be
It’s bliss
Knowing you’re free
