Dont cry 

this is what we hear 

from the time we are birthed.

Dont cry

we are told under a hushed voice

scorned if we cannot swallow back the tears.

Dont cry

we are shamed at times

to be an adult and not be lost to this.

Salty taste

the rawness in our throats

redness of our blurred eyes as we try

to not cry.

Cry

let them hear your roar

let your tears hit the earth like rain.

Cry 

say what is on your mind 

there is no shame in this emotion.

Cry 

this is natural 

as we are only human.

Yes, crying is such a normal part of life it should not be discouraged. But there are lots of damaging ideas that need to change,no?
