Saved

Saved

A Poem by G. K. Bostic
"

For a prompt

"

Alone I walked through endless night
And empty thought.....I roamed
Toward nothing.

Soundless pain by my side
Cruel companion silently guiding
To nowhere.

Falling slowly into the void
Round and round, downward dove
Into emptiness

Giving in to the endless night
Walking toward endless death
Unwilling to fight

Until

A small sound, like a bell
Called me back from hell
To hope

A hand pulling me up
Words drawing me back
To live

I like it. The one and two word last lines are a nice touch.

this made me think a bit about that famous line "into the valley of death"...it certainly sounded that way, if you think of lines like:
"Toward nothing."
"To nowhere."
"Falling slowly into the void"
"Into emptiness"
and so on...blessed the bell that broke such bleak imagery...
