Stolen

Stolen

A Poem by G. K. Bostic
"

One may never know the damage of words spoken to the young.

"

Words...like wicked wind

Breathed away hopes and dreams

Like smoke in the breeze

Leaves from the trees

Drifting away

Like chimney's smoke

Floating into nothingness

Vanishing

Leaving a void

Emptiness

And in the emptiness

Fear

Lonliness

Hopelessness

Whirled away by wicked winds

You've captured some powerful images here - I especially enjoy the last few lines: "Fear, Lonliness, Hopelessness, Whirled away by wicked winds." Though I sometimes don't really believe in "nothing" (even though perception isn't necessarily reality, blahblah), it's an interesting idea to ponder.

Back to the point, though. I think that many of us are more vulnerable to words than any physical beating. It's a shame they're so easy to lose control of. Fantastic write.
