SurvivorA Poem by G. K. BosticAn Italian SonnetSo long ago and yet she can't forget The pain of all those days and nights gone by Imprisoned by her fear she often cried And terror filled the room with tears and sweat The shadow and the smell of cigarettes And joy of youth and childhood was denied. Forced to walk in silence with the lies And ever present ugly looming threat.
Today as staunch survivor she can live. She will not be his victim anymore By living in a world of pain and hate. To live in bitterness and not forgive She would surrender life and lose the war. No longer owned, now she controls her fate. © 2010 G. K. BosticFeatured Review
