Demons

Demons

A Poem by G. K. Bostic
"

Memory of a night about 38 years ago when my oldest son had a fever of 104 and was delirious.

"

As fever wrapped herself around my child

And burned his brow and made his world unclear,

He ran from tigers claws beside his bed

And nothing said could make them disappear.

Though all alone the two were in the room,

The demons of the night would not depart,

Til with the dawn her grip on him was loosed,

And calm returned to mother's anxious heart.

Great work here. Anyone who has kids can relate the pain the parents feel is equal or worse than the child because worry and fret is involved. Beautifully done.
