PersephoneA Poem by Gabrielle LynAbout a woman I never met, because she didn't know how loved she was.Shatter me like glass Across our kitchen floor I know how to clean up the mess It's not like I haven't done it before I'll try not to scream If you try not to yell I know the neighbors can hear But the last thing they want to do is interfere So I'll cry myself to sleep But quietly As I pray to God I die sometime soon I hope you wake up every day Missing me While you try to wipe away My blood stains From your hands Maybe you weren't there When the bones broke Inside of my chest But you were there for the rest For the time when your fists Did more damage to me Than I am doing to myself I swear finding me In the driver's seat In this one car garage Won't be the last time You see me You'll see me every time You close your eyes I'll be in your dreams In your nightmares Every place where There's a crowd you'll see my face And remember the way I loved you Even when you showed me No mercy And you'll sing my name Persephone My dear Persephone Why did you have to leave?
