Pathetic Life

Pathetic Life

A Poem by Mari' Emeraude
"

The endless cycle of addiction

"
Adorned in scabs and faded scars
You swore you’d never let it go this far
And friends aren’t who they say they are
in this pathetic life

You haven’t eaten, haven’t slept
The clothes you wear are all that’s left
Your other stuff - you lost to theft
and this pathetic life

Steal from family just the same
dishonesty’s your middle name
and all the pawn shops know your game
in this pathetic life

A hopeful end you swear you’re done
Oh look! Here comes another one
You’ll do just ONE MORE HIT for fun
in this pathetic life

Your time’s run out your needle’s bent
Your friends have left, your money’s spent
Your dope was your own detriment
in this pathetic life

Many follow the path in the poetry. Drugs can make you because foolish and alone. Addition is the Devil's hold. Thank you Mari for sharing the amazing poetry. A powerful, honest and real life journey in your words and thoughts.

This is truth..Many waste their precious life becoming drug addicts and the follow the path as described in your poem..This is actually one of those topics which needs attention and many crimes that happen in our society are also result of this..I loved the way you described it...And I loved the topic..Drugs convert you into a devil and you no longer remain human..In fact , many murders are done because the drug addicts , they just can't live without them and they need money...
Keep on writing and well done..

Having spent more years than I care to recall working within the field of mental health & substance misuse, I feel suitably qualified to make the point of emphasising just how very real & true these words are & sadly, for so many..................A great write with an important public health warning on the label............N

You have illustrated the frustration of the onlooker facing an abuser with their compulsive, excessive, and self-damaging use of habit forming drugs or substances. Well written and poignant share – well done! :-)
