I really enjoyed this fun write. What you say is so true. I appreciate other's styles because I seem to use alot of rhyming. It just comes easily but I would love to be able to incorporate more of a free style from time to time. That being said, we are all different and the main thing is, it comes from the heart. Great poem!

I've tried my hand at free style but it always ends up drawing me back to a rhyme! Thank you Dara
very nice- often I read poetry and feel nothing or wonder what they are saying or nothing. but then at times the words to penetrate and find a place in me
I write a bit and it does not matter if anyone reads - just writing it is enough.
I liked this a lot.....poetry can rhyme and it can be in a form or it can be free verse. The point is, the poet is expressing him/herself. The reader can interpret the words in a way that is very foreign to the poet's intention, but that's okay. This was sweet. Lydi**
Though I started with rhyming poetry, over the time, I grew comfortable in free verse and experimenting with forms. Given some months back, I wouldn't have agreed about poetry just coming from the heart, 'cause in my experience it can be expressed without emotions too. But now, I think poetry with the right emotions really touches the reader.
I enjoyed reflecting over this piece of yours. Nice one!

I have ventured into different styles of writing but I find if I try and write under restrictive categories, I have no idea what I'm doing!! I was on another site that wanted the poet to place their writing into the 'correct category' every time. I found I was trying so hard at finding the correct category it just took the fun out of writing altogether. I say, write it and let the reader place it ;p
and even if others don't get it, yes, it is still poetry...as Archibald Macleish wrote in Ars Poetica..."a poem should be equal to/ not true"
and " a poem should not mean, just be"---
really like this...

I agree Mari. Many kinds of poetry and many kinds of poets. I try to be polite to all people. Thank you for sharing your poetry and your thoughts.

I liked this, it almost had a bit of a Shel Silverstein kind of cadence to it, which paired with some humor makes a lot of sense. Just write what you enjoy, why worry so much about whether it's 'good' or not? Isn't art subjective?

Sometimes I need to keep reminding myself of that! thx for reading
I've never learned to write with emotion. I've always been lucky enough to have people like what I posted. I haven't been disappointed yet with your postings. You're doing a great job.
