When the soul of a writer needs that quiet place...
The moonlight peered slyly through the evergreen trees A tattered moth caught in the gust of the breeze Took a dangerous dive towards the crackling fire The smoke swirled and slithered as the embers rose higher
Wet, soggy mosses that dampened the wood Bogged me down slowly wherever I stood I breathed to the rhythm of a cricket's song That sang far off somewhere under the lawn
The mountains loomed ominous over my head clouds gathered in masses and filled me with dread What price did I pay for my privacy here? Reward was solitude well worth the fear
I feel the best poems comes out in solitude mostly....the one beside us is loneliness...makes us know ourselves better than any crowded arena....it's an amazing play of words here and a great poem you presented....thanks so much for sharing Mari' :)
Your imagery, Mari', stunningly enchants one's senses, and the originality of your imagination is equally rousing.
From the ethereal world of your picture to your well-struck, dancing verses, one is swept up into the magical feel of your poetical moment … it takes finely-honed skills to bring such a scene to life.
"What price did I pay for my privacy here?
Reward was solitude well worth the fear."
Mm!
Every poetess and poet worth their ink will relate with this piece deeply and personally … I know I do, and I love it!
Big HUG of grateful thanks, Mari' ⁓ Richard : )

Aw, you're welcome, Mari'.
No critique liked from me, eh? ; )
A great poem of solitude indeed. I have to have it at times. Sometimes just getting away from everything is key for me. Shutting down all electronic devices and phones. We just need time to unwind at times. A writer needs lots of solitude. At least I do. Great work!
hooooooohh! I felt this! And it felt thrillingly chilling! Loved the imagery and the narrative, and the musicality flowed beautifully! I'm not sure "under" the lawn is the right way to phrase it, but rather "over" (since the lawn is more or less grass and dirt....crickets are not exactly under that). Brava! Simply well done!
Many kinds of solitude. Some wanted and some solitude forced upon us. I felt and understood your words. Thank you Mari for sharing the excellent words and thoughts.

I like the content of the poem, we really need moments of solitude to reflect and think about lots of things.
