Chapter 9A Chapter by gavinmichaelsCHAPTER 9
Once again Liza was taken aback by what she was hearing. The only side she had seen from her father her whole life was the same character that those he destroyed had seen. Now he was telling her that it was for her own good. What is going on? When she thought about it, he was right. Every time he had done something she hadn’t agreed with she had fought it in her own way. Even this evening she had come here to fight. She how going up resenting the person she thought her father was and only strengthened her resolve to be nothing like him. “I had no idea, daddy,” Liza said when she finally remembered to breath. “You weren’t supposed to sweetheart. Anyways, let’s head to dinner. You know how your mother gets if we are late.” “I’m not coming. I stopped to see mom earlier, and she is still holding a grudge about the Chris thing. She seemed odd; taking everything very personally. She even turned me saying that I didn’t agree with what you do for a living into me not having any respect for either of you. When I explained that I respected you both, just not how you acted, she flew off the handle. Her face turned red, almost purple really, and she started yelling, and then told me to leave.” “I’m sorry sweetheart. Your mother is not accepting the rejection of her friends very well. She has been very short tempered for almost a month now. Give her some time and she’ll be back to her old self.” “I know I’ll try.” “Thanks sweetheart.” Her father glanced once again at the book in her hands. “I would be careful about referencing that book, even in a class like this occult class. The captain was laughed out of every peer group he brought these ideas up with and finally ended up in a mental institution. The only reason this made it to print was because his institutionalization was very public and so the publishers saw a chance to make a lot of money. Not even his own colleagues believed him and they help him with most of the research there.” “I’ll be careful, daddy, I promise. I’m going to head home now. Thanks again for being supportive, daddy. I love you.” “I love you too sweetheart.” © 2013 gavinmichaels |
