A SLAVE

A SLAVE

A Poem by Gaurav Walia
"

Slavery- a curse of the damned! He fights his way out the darkness and stumbles upon his poor fate.

"

-A SLAVE-

He admits he’s weak

A troubled life that he leads,

A stupid-noisy war his master seeks,

For his heart he only speaks…

It’s a hope-filled mirage,

The feeling he keeps behind the drapes,

And leaving everyone in their doubts,

He knows he cannot yet escape…

A ray of light sometimes he sees,

But it’s a magician’s trick,

In his mind an embrace of warmth he feels,

Stand in his shoes for once,

Tell me about its great deal…

They say he’s not worth a thing,

In their heedless mind,

He’ll make them think,

The man he once used to be,

To become a different one,

Now he has a secret key…

He’s just a man of belief,

With a sting of grief,

Hope someday he shines,

Like a water-drop on a leaf…

Plans to free a good soul,

Lingering in his head,

From his master- a merciless hound,

He can keep him slaved no more,

He buries him in the ground,

They all still hear him roar…

The darkness is shining,

In him and them,

For this paradigm-shift,

He is going to come out like a precious gem…

He’ll crawl out of this mud,

Like a dawning day,

And breathe his freedom,

Although he is filthy today…

These barb wires can’t stop him,

Now the fire burning inside him,

Running like a flaming tiger,

He’s finally a man who is free…

It’s coming true,

The dreams he once saw,

With a basket of blooming flowers,

In love he is raw…

With blood racing in his veins,

And his heart touching his toes,

He can hear the stories of his freedom,

In tomorrow’s folklores…

As his laughing sound starts merging in the wind,

From behind his back,

A bullet is coming without a hint,

To pierce a hole into his skin,

With an unbearable dint…

He is falling on the ground,

Crumbling with pain,

With his face upside,

Clouds pouring drops of rain,

It is his unchanged bane…

The world he wanted to see,

Is turning blurry before his eyes,

Making out of here,

Don’t think he can,

With a smirk on his little face,

He’s dying a free man,

Leaving his fear and suffering behind,

He’s dying a free man…

A sad story of a slave, he doesnt deserve being under the rough, hatful hands of his master! an escape... all he must have hoped for, and yet, he meets his death in his run, free... but... gone... how upsetting, a great write, pulled me in! also, I do like the image that goes with this poem, it fits perfectly.. even being a sad yet realistic image.

Thanks for reading :D
Ahhh that was so horrible! I should have seen it coming, he was caught in the end! I love how you are able to stir up the emotions, it was so clear, the message was there. The pain, the unmistakable taste of freedom just within his reach, attained it, but was caught. In the end he was happy but I wanted more!

More than death of a person it is saddening to see the dreams die before him

Thank you so much Sir. It means a lot to me!
There are many forms of slavery..most of them without chains.
A good story you told here..

Enjoyed it.
