Neglect Creates Sorrows

Neglect Creates Sorrows

A Poem by Very Old Account

Too little, too late

For the sun has come down

On such a perfect day.

Our hearts are bound,

But you stand up to leave,

And I say nay.

Please, don’t go, because I need you here

With me, for always.

Forever, forever

We’re meant to be,

Don’t you see?

You can’t leave me, never.

But you say it’s only for a while.

Perk up, just smile.

But it’s not as simple as you put it.

I know I won’t see you tomorrow

Or ever again.

I know that you’re a hypocrite.

Before

I would run off to

Be with one or another.

I’d leave you here

In tears, because

I treated you just like others.

But now I know

Your love for me,

And mine for you.

But because of my neglect,

I know that it’s

Okay for you, too.
