Never

Never

A Poem by Very Old Account

The sun has set low below the horizon.
The candlelight has burned out.
Its flames flickered off,
As the fire lost its warmth.
Just like our love,
Just like your touch.
No more, never.

The sun won’t shine.
The moon is gone,
And so are the stars in the night sky.
My eyes shed tears
As yours closed.
They won’t open again.
No more, never.

The gates are shut.
The windows are down.
When one door closes,
Another won’t open.
The key won’t turn.
I can’t get in.
No more, never.

The lights blacked out,
And won’t turn on.
The day grew dark,
Just like my heart.
After you,
I will never love again.
No more, never.

The blade won’t cut.
No blood is shed.
My brain is dead.
My mind is lost.
Your heart won’t beat,
But your hand won’t let go of mine.
No more, never.
