Your laugh is like a thousand moths all taking flight at once, suddenly being released from an old backyard shed during the dusk of summer evening

 

Your smile is a first date: mysterious, cliché, and on the verge of a single, uncomfortable, unforgettable kiss

 

Your hair is like a river, flowing, long, and never straight (even on the days that you try)

 

Your wisdom is a fairy tale: farfetched, magical, and desperate to be heard again and again

 

Your sleep is a cave: dark, still, and waiting for a nightmare that I will save you from

 

Your fear is like left over syrup from breakfast: it’s f*****g everywhere, but so discreet that only the most experienced noses can tell

 

Your love is a best friend: open, carefree, and always there

 

Your jokes are a value menu: cheap, attractive, and so f*****g worth it

 

Your touch is a multiple choice answer: I can never quite figure it out…

 

My love for you is an old dog at the pound: desperate, loyal, and longing to go home with you. 

 

I love you always, my best friend…

Your poem is a wonderful meditation on the nature of love. i really like the structure you've given it as you go through all the ways that your love is expressed. Some of your imagery is quite stunning - the description of a laugh is my favourite. Your descriptions do add up to the mystery that love is.
