Welcome to America

Welcome to America

A Poem by Garrett Beebe
"

A poem about the growing trends in America

"

Welcome to America

Land of the whiny and fat

Just watch the television

And blog away on your computers all day

Let the government handle it

They seem to know what’s best

They know what to do

With the money I worked for all day

Welcome to America

Land of rights and free speech

Just watch what you say

You might be leaving your job today

For making a joke, that someone did not get

Welcome to America

Look at that, it’s an economic crisis

Just watch the television

And place blame on the wrong people

Elect the ones that put us in this mess

Let them spend more money

Yeah, that should fix this mess

Welcome to America

Land of freedom and Will

Pass some more gun laws please

Because I don’t know how to

Handle the gun I have a right to own

Never mind being responsible

For this deadly weapon I don’t hold dear

Welcome to America

I’m smart but don’t know s**t

All of the stuff I read and write

I won’t retain longer than a night

Give my opinion on everything

Even if I don’t know s**t

And if I’m wrong I’ll never admit it

Welcome to America

Land of the prophets

They totally called Y2K

Why do I listen to what they say?

Oh yeah, they have a degree

They must be smarter than me

They would never try

To make a dime on my ignorance

Thank goodness, I bought that

Now I can say I am safe

Welcome to America

Land of those that know what’s best

Just get off of my case

I’ll eat meat if I damn well like

So what if I smoke pot

At least I’m not an a*****e

That doesn’t know how to mind their own business

Welcome to America

Land of the dumb lawsuits

I ate too much fast food

It’s their fault I’m a fat a*s

I spilled my coffee all over my new pants

I’ll just sue them and get a brand new pair

Democracy really kicks a*s

Welcome to America

Land of Equal Rights

They call me a racist

If I don’t vote for the black guy

I don’t mean to condescend

I would be more racist

To do so without regard to his political views

Oh well I guess I’m a racist

Welcome to America

Land of the privileged and wealthy

Bribe our political leaders

Give them a new agenda

Give them sweetheart loans

Cover up our tax fraud

And make the citizens pay

That should pave my way

Welcome to America

Land of religious freedom

I don’t believe anything

But the word God offends me

Please take it off of everything

I’ll be as intolerant as I like

Just because I can

Welcome to America

Land of the strong and free

Send our strongest off to fight

Then condemn them in the night

Start a scenario we must face to the end

Then start votes to drop it in the middle

We don’t learn from past mistakes

Let’s make this another Vietnam

Welcome to America

Land of the true and free

Don’t you dare tread on me

I’ll stand up for my own rights

I’ll make things right again

Because I am a citizen

Of this great nation, We call America

You're my hero. You need to evoca this and let us hear the song version, it probably rocks. Songs as poems are typically bland on their own, but put them to music and they just work. I didn't like the poem but like I said I'll probably like the song. Agree with you on everything you said, wear your red, white, and blue as long as you can because pretty soon the only color we're going to be allowed to wear is red.

I don't care what political party you may belong too, I certainly don't hold myself to any one parties standards.

However, telling me I have issues and BLOCKING me because of what I observe really only goes to prove my point, LEAH ROSS. Maybe she's afraid of some feedback on her opinions? I thank you very much LEAH ROSS for the review and your opinion on the matter, oh and thanks again for reinforcing my views by showing none of yours, LEAH ROSS.

This ones for you LEAH ROSS :-)

"O' say can you see...." A great rant and I would love to hear this to music sometime. So much truth is all that you wrote here. Brilliant in its complex simplicity. Kudos. Kudos. Kudos.
