Ajar

Ajar

A Poem by Tara-Rist

Ajar

peanuts and cracker jacks

bass line beat

shining stars and night black

rocks me in my sleep

creeping silence settles in

leaving me to dream

wiping clean darkest sins

spotlight mind in moonlight beams

killer blast of unseen noise

jars me out of peace

waking bones and rattling poise

I question, "Where is the beast"

fly to the window sealed

and to the doors locked tight

morning's glory lined is reeled

no more worry of his bite

outsides distance not crossed

beaten by the gentle rain

daydreams covered by damp moss

sweet sleep shall come again
