A short little poem about cats I wrote for my gran over Christmas

My Furry Friend

 

Fluffy feline companion,

Forever faithful and cute.

You hunt and prowl round your dominion

So confident and resolute.

 

“What would I do without you?”

I shudder and quiver to think.

You are the truest of friends I ever knew

Despite your tendency to stink.

A very nice, and compact, poem. I love the rhythm of the poem; it bounces and is very sing-song-like, which really adds to, and highlights, the lightheartedness of the subject matter. The alliteration in the first two lines is quite nice and, along with the rhythm, catches your attention instantly. I am also a fan of your word choice; "Shudder," "Quiver," "Fluffy," "Prowl," and "dominion" add a great flavor to this poem. The poem is also humorous, which is always nice. I chuckled at the last line, especially after you set up the cat as "faithful," "confident," and a prowling carnivore, and then offer a vision of a smelly house cat. Your poem was a very entertaining read! Nice job!

Aw, this is very cute. Cats make wonderful pets. They are funny, adventurous, loving, and so nosy. They do have their flaws, but really you can't help but love them. They have so much personality. I really enjoyed this. Thank you very much for sharing.

An excellent use of Juxtaposition! Even though I saw the ~classic twist~ coming, it still made me chuckle. Could they read,I'm sure that cats all over the world would appreciate this tribute to the feline condition.

HAHA! Great little poem :) Cats are my favorite animals so i really liked this one even more :)
The rhyming was great it flows well.... and its all very true... i loved the ending :)
