Made of StoneA Poem by zwartenkot
Everyday is the same
The darkness appears Playing the same game Whispering in my ear No matter how much you drink No matter how many pills you swallow Those dark thoughts you think You'll always feel hollow This misery is to much I can't take another day My body is cold from the darkness’ touch I just want to fly away But how can you fly with wings made of stone? I'm forever stuck to the ground Destined to be alone Hiding in the background Just a shadow behind glass Watching the world go by A caged outcast Looking up at the sky Longing to feel freedom The wind beneath my wings But life can't give me a reason I'm stuck listening to the birds sing This downward spiral Is spinning to fast What's the point of fighting for survival When every breath could be my last I've thought about it more than once Because what's the point in living when I'm the one that the darkness hunts When life has become just a burden With wings made of stone You're destined to lose hope I'd rather throw myself into the unknown Than spend another day trying to cope Today is the day All of this will be in the past The darkness is finally going away This breath shall be my last I chiseled away my wings So I could travel through the sky Now I am the one who sings Good-bye good-bye There was no way else to break free It doesn't feel so bad anymore, being alone Life obviously didn't want me Because after all how can you fly with wings made of stone? © 2018 zwartenkotFeatured Review
