Far GreaterA Poem by Gabrielle EspositoEach small drop of rain leaves an impact.Far Greater By Gabrielle Esposito I have nothing But I am everything to you. I live high in the sky. You cannot see me unless the world cries. Yet, you need me. You give me purpose. I am hardly ever in your thoughts, But I am with you everyday. Only when the sky darkens do you look up. I hit your skin, you flinch. And as I fall straight to the ground I become part of the Earth. A part of something bigger. Something I never thought I’d be. Deep into the soil I am taken Far, far away from you. I sink, it is dark without you. I am powerless, a mere puppet. The soil around me becomes laden with The essence of my brothers and sisters. Together we slowly muddy the ground Making it hard to step, boots squelch. There’s not enough room for all of here. We begin to migrate far far away Finding ourselves finally at a rushing body Of water that calls our names. Together we strip our individuality And leap into the waves. Here, I am at peace With the rushing current. Here I cannot think of you. I know I will see you again, and you will see me. You won’t recognize my form So it doesn’t really matter. But without you, I am a part of something bigger. Something I never thought I would be. © 2016 Gabrielle EspositoAuthor's Note
