The Piece of Me That Is All YoursA Poem by Gabrielle EspositoEven six feet underground, your loved ones hold a piece of you.A Piece of Me Deep in the Ground The Piece of Me That is All Yours Is still in your grasp Late at night I wonder if in your clasped hands You still can feel the Piece of Me that I gave you When I sleep, I see your smile The one thing that fills me with warmth But I turn when I think of you lying there Your face far from the sun The sweet breath gone from your body Never to pass again between the lips that I kissed The left side of my chest Is empty and frigid Because you still have The Piece of Me That is All yours On a day when I need you The tears come and roll off my cheeks Though I know you took that fatal leap Because you felt too much heat You burned, fizzled and finally popped But I’m alone now, thinking of The holes in the lining of your eternal bed just like the hole inside of me © 2016 Gabrielle EspositoAuthor's Note
