If only I could write words
that flow as freely as your laugh
or the way you whisper my name.

If only my prose could make you feel
breathless and euphoric,
like the way you set my heart aflame.

If only my stanzas were clever,
you’d feel the way I do "
achingly astounded.

If only I could say the words I write.
I could spin a story of you and me,
of hope and love unbounded.
