Hungry

I am not hungry anymore.
I don't need the treat sitting
In front of me, yet
I divulge, I desire to have something
In my mouth other than the saltiness of what
I feel. On my journey of self-
Improvement and love,
I am selfish.
I am feeding myself hate.
I hate the width of my hips.
I hate how my thighs rub together.
I hate, I hate, I hate.
I am not hungry anymore.

Oh the self hated involved in this poem. As a dancer, I understand this pain. Talking yourself out of something you wish you could have is powerful. Hating yourself so much you make yourself change, is not only sad but also disgraceful.That is clear in these words. This poem is so powerful! I love the honesty of the words!

wow. Very moving.

And I love the repeition of hate at the end.

In one sense, it feels urgent, while in another sense, it explains the last line, but I get the feeling that the last line is more of a pep talk to the narrator. There's something somewhat ironic in that last line.
