Busy Intoxication

Busy Intoxication

A Poem by gabiaimee
"

Don't ask me how I know

"
my feet can’t keep still
soles and toes feeling the grainy wooden table legs
like the busy antennas on an ant
except my feeling isn’t necessary for survival
or exploration or avoiding starvation
but maybe I need it to know my world
where I am at this very moment
whether I am sitting or standing
or what kind of place I am seeing
with my eyes
since eyes cannot always be trusted
especially when they’ve been watching
bottle after bottle empty
and pile up on the kitchen counter

I loved the way this carried me along as a reader, almost like riding shotgun to the words of this poem. This is very visual, and exceptionally strong. Great work!
