The Forgotten

The Forgotten

A Poem by gabiaimee
"

It's heartbreaking to be so close to someone but so very far away and to wonder if they're too busy to feel the same

"
Tonight I wrote me a letter
and pretended it came from you.
It said how my smile twinkles brighter than Christmas,
and how my eyes burn a new shade of blue.

I told myself I was so funny,
with a laughter that's most overdue.
Tonight I would've been one of the happiest girls...
if only it came from you.

I told myself you think of me often,
and, really, I'm sure that you do.
Although you are mine sometimes I find
that I really don't know if it's true.

Darling, you make me so worried
when you're gone just out of the blue.
I know I'm not often priority,
but it'd be nice to see some of you.

Honey, just do me this favor
since I have to wait just to talk to you.
Show me I deserve a minute of your work,
because I want to feel important, too.

Actually, I'd like you to wait for once,
because I'm always waiting on you.
Life is a fight, a competition for your time,
and this game I don't know how to do.

I know distance is making things harder.
Trust me, I'm feeling it, too.
Sometimes it just feels like you forgot me in the rush.
It's been forever since I haven't missed you.

I really liked the concept of this poem and how you decided to write it. I like the feelings that this person is portraying and to another. I also think the way you wrote it as if the person was talking to that someone that wouldn't write her the letter was very interesting and gave the poem quite a life.

I like the letters to ourselves. Can be reminders of what we were and are. I like the thoughts and reasons for the poetry. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I love this write Gabi! It's so honest... straight from the soul. When I read the first stanza I thought to myself... damn this is what I need to do, write myself a letter since no one's telling me anything nice! haha I really enjoyed it. Life is best when there is someone there to notice all the beautiful things about you. Long distance is definitely tough because so much of that pure feeling that comes with touch is gone. Being able to look into someones eyes, someones smile and knowing exactly how they are feeling at that moment. Beautiful write... you captured the loneliness and hurt in your words. You are never alone my friend :)
