Three Words

Three Words

A Poem by gabiaimee
"

They're more powerful than you think.

"
Sometimes
I imagine myself hearing three words
that rip apart every fiber of my being
with a grief so formidable it befalls me.
Each syllable an ocean wave
imprisoning my face in foam and sea,
suffocating me in the heavy, salty blackness
pounding my body with enough force
to beat me into eternal sleep.

"He is dead."

Sometimes
I imagine myself hearing three words
that terrorize me into a state of
paralysis and decay only cured by
intravenous fluids and radiation.
To suffer the same fate as
my loved ones before me
doesn't come across as nearly as
forbidding as it should be.

"You have cancer."

Sometimes
I imagine myself hearing three words
that hydrate every dried out cell in my body
with the warmest, stickiest, sugary happiness.
A pure delight that spills endlessly
from the lips of the solitary reason
why these syllables lighten
my body and leave me glowing
in the most intimate romantic ecstasy.

"I love you."

Those three words mentioned in your piece were " Life changing three words ". A LOST of someone is one. A LIFE of someone is second . A LOVE of someone is third. All of these you beautifully described and shared were life changing and life altering events that " sometimes " intrudes our lives without our permission.

Three words,
Three stanza;
Three meaning.
It is amazing and real too.
Great one dear. Well crafted art.

You are so good at this it's amazing. You spoke truth in every stanza of this poem. I love these lines by the way:

"pounding my body with enough force
to beat me into eternal sleep."

Great work! :)

Sad, but a very well written poem you have penned Gabiaimee. The structure and format are perfect and the three separate Stanzas, and the then the highlighted 3 words after each. I do like the last stanza the best and How I do think those words are more powerful than people think. I think we should focus on the positive never the negative. Well done.
