Three WordsA Poem by gabiaimeeThey're more powerful than you think.
Sometimes
I imagine myself hearing three words that rip apart every fiber of my being with a grief so formidable it befalls me. Each syllable an ocean wave imprisoning my face in foam and sea, suffocating me in the heavy, salty blackness pounding my body with enough force to beat me into eternal sleep. "He is dead." Sometimes I imagine myself hearing three words that terrorize me into a state of paralysis and decay only cured by intravenous fluids and radiation. To suffer the same fate as my loved ones before me doesn't come across as nearly as forbidding as it should be. "You have cancer." Sometimes I imagine myself hearing three words that hydrate every dried out cell in my body with the warmest, stickiest, sugary happiness. A pure delight that spills endlessly from the lips of the solitary reason why these syllables lighten my body and leave me glowing in the most intimate romantic ecstasy. "I love you."
