Get Along

I call myself a Christian because 

I give myself to the Son and to God.

Whatever they say, I am a Christian.

Though some may say that I'm not.

I know our way is not the right way

Because no path is correct.

A belief is one's own opinion,

Not a fact on a test.

If not everyone is free to their beliefs

Then I am not entitled to mine.

Don't get in the way of what I believe in

And we'll get along just fine.

We don't get in trouble by claiming to be one but we get in trouble by living to be one. I was offering someone a taste of what its like " to know" instead of "hoping to know". Not really shoving in somebody's throat but I was baffled by the most strangest answer and rationalization. " Well, you are entitled to your own beliefs and opinion but you don't own the facts ". I guess I'll take that as a no. I'll keep knowing and the other person well just simply keep hoping.

To make the story short and simple. To claim and confess to be one ( not profess ) we have positionally associated ourselves with the name that bears witness to why it was called and referred to that particular term. It automatically puts anyone who associated themselves with that name an enmity to other beliefs system. So getting along is a great and ideal proposition. But reality sometimes say otherwise...

Nice write Gabi... everyone is entitled to their opinions, free to choose what they want to believe in. I am also a Christian and it's amazing how many people (not on the cafe at least for me) have an opinion and a voice to be negative to what my beliefs are. There are millions just like you that share the same beliefs... be proud of who you are and what you believe :)

Yasss girl! Loved this one. I feel like Christians get such a terrible rep because of the people in the media that spread messages of hate and say "in Jesus's name" at the end. Those people need to realize that the number one thing Jesus taught was love and acceptance, and this poem summed that up quite nicely.

A very nice and telling piece you have written and your expression on how you think and believe. I think all should believe how they want. I also believe we should respect all religions even if it is sometime we don't believe as long as it isn't harming someone. Who is to say one belief is better or worse than another belief? Treating everyone with respect and kindness is the best way.
