Prologue

I want to be a princess.

No- I want to be yours.

You're the prince and I'm the chambermaid

and I just want to feel like more.

You're off limits and always needed

while all my life revolves around you.

I wouldn't want it any other way

but I want to be off limits, too.

So very kind for a prince.

You want me more than a maid.

Still I am given orders

and obey like a slave.

You don't want for my upsetting.

The insults you do not mean.

Commands you do not give me-

the orders are from the Queen.

Our fairytale had begun unscathed;

we fell in love so fast.

Everything fell apart when I thought it was

happily ever after at last.

Her highness came between us.

Your trust did she betray.

But you didn't know- and she doesn't know

I am your lover, not a maid.

This is an awesome write and your words created the perfect scene... felt like watching a movie play out more than reading words which is nice :) A beautiful fairytale style write :)

The separation of "classes" this has been around for centuries. Avery interesting piece and I like the flow of the poem. Very nicely done.
