Icarus, Chapter 2: Taste the Same

Icarus, Chapter 2: Taste the Same

I thought I just wanted to see her
So I asked
and she agreed.
We're getting coffee this afternoon.

She just "had to" reschedule again
and asked me
for tomorrow.
I said no.
I'd never count on
even having a tomorrow,
let alone a today.
I have right now and that is all
I know I have been given.
Take me now, or take me never
but don't fall victim to isolation
when I could have been with you.

We should be out getting coffee
but she's texting me instead
because I can wait
but her phone can't.
Human contact should be
the priority
so she can see my face
as she says them
and maybe she'll see
how much promises mean
if words taste the same
no matter how you're fed them.
