That Girl

The importance of adjectives.

I've always been that wandering girl.

She asked me if I wanted to change that

and find a new crowd to call my own.

I said no.

I've always been that silent girl.

She asked me if I wanted to change that

and confess my sins and cry in her arms.

I said no.

I've always been that undesirable girl.

She asked me if I wanted to change that

and become the person people want.

I said no. 

I've always been that insecure girl.

She asked me if I wanted to change that

and become the person I always wanted to be.

I said no.

If I weren't 

wandering, silent, undesirable, insecure

I would just be

that girl.

I really enjoyed this! It's always a pleasure to know that someone has accepted themselves as they are. Don't let anyone tell you who to be. Things will go on as long as you be yourself. You never want to be stuck living a life that someone else has instructed you.

I do find the presentation of the poem very appealing especially the line " I said no " don't know why but it does ... I can't explain it...but it does.

Overall the poem maybe referring to so many of us that may still be suffering from what they often call it " The Ugly Duckling Syndrome " though over the years and after we have overcome and outgrown those traits and self defeating behaviors it seems to hunt and follow us around. Even when we are already a beautiful and magnificent swan.

So well compose and your piece always invokes philosophical thoughts !
