To Be Good

To Be Good

A Poem by gabiaimee

He told an infant not to whine,
a watch to change the time,
he told me to be good.

He said the birds fly south
when the flowers come about,
he said he understood.

He said the water gets deeper
the darker you see her,
he said to keep my head high.

He said I'd find the key
buried beneath the black sea,
he said I need to try.

He told me that a traffic light
stays unchanging if I feel alright,
he told me to act as I would.

He told debutantes and saints
to care for every day,
he told me to be good.
