Mosaic

I am a mosaic of every person I ever loved.

The remains of my father

Flows through me

My mother’s attitude

Shows in the furrowing of my brows

 

The importance of human contact

And honest words

Weaved in the being of me

From sisters I have

 

Men in my life

Turned friendship as if

We are connected by

Same blood

 

The past gifted me pain

Yet knitted lessons

Be my own at my own pace

Always uttered by my most beloved

 

their pieces live

as much as my pieces are alive

I take a step back

Admiring the beauty that lays before me.
