Childhood Memories

Childhood Memories

A Poem by Gabby Gellerman
"

Growing up doesn't mean you have to forget your past. To me my childhood was one of the best parts of my life.

"
When i was a kid..
Life was simpler
  phones could only make calls
computers were for paint and pinball
youtube was just starting out

When I was a kid..
Technology wasn't the most important thing
kids had imagination and made even the most boring things an adventure
it was more fun to play outside and explore the world(even if it was only your backyard)

When I was a kid..
The bond between siblings was unbreakable
Max, Josh, and I did everything together
We had lego building competitions, made mini golf courses in the house
We played play station in the basement, and watch movies all night

When I was a kid..
  TV shows were the best
Your life would be ruined by missing saturday morning cartoons
The shows taught you life lessons that you wouldn't forget

When i was a kid..
 Life was an adventure
The scariest thing to hear was I'm telling
A day at the park could become anything you want it to be

When I was a kid..
 my childhood was the best
but I just wanted to grow up
wanting freedom to enjoy my life

     I was a kid..
      Remembering my past
But now i miss my childhood
   wanting the good times back

I was a kid..
 I was a 90's Kid

Amazing how things have changed in such a short expanse of time, imagine two decades from now, I can't even imagine...love the sweet reminiscing with your brothers, this brought back a lot of memories. Well done, especially in light of the fact that this is your first poem.

I remember still the stories my grandma would relate to my sister and I about her youth; the innocence that permeated her life and her brother's and sisters and friends. This world is in a constant state off flux, things change constantly, decades pass so swiftly, but the constancy of memory remains always. I'm a late seventies/eighties kid, not so far apart from you and my sister and I often recall those blissful days of childhood.

Good to hold onto memories. They become better with distance and time. I enjoyed the flow of thoughts and the reasons for the poem. I agree with your logic. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

As a fellow 90's kid, this is haunting accurate. Well done. You brought memories to life and, not only that, you brought them to life for somebody you've never met. That to me is incredible. I miss Johnny Bravo!

We all wanted freedom.Yes. But never knew what we were giving up for it. This poem made me remember my childhood. A good write.

Good show, Gabby. I grew up in the 70's and 80's but so much of this rang true for me too:)
