Mountains

Mountains

A Poem by Gabby Bloedel

The sun is shining,
but I don't feel it.
The water is warm
but I don't like it.
There's only beauty in the storms.
Let lighting strike the earth;
Let the rain wash it away.
Take me up the mountains to say goodbye
for the sweet distance
from the peaks to the lakes
keeps me away from those who prosper
Take me away from those who bloom
I am not like them.
They are flying high like doves
and I am drowning in shallow ponds.
Take me up to the mountains to say goodbye.
Let me swallow the sun one last time
before it swallows me.
