The BeginingA Chapter by GraceThis is the official chapter one, lets look into the life of our protagonist...It was 8 years later, Puella was 16. She was not exactly ‘happy’. She sat in her French class, on a Friday, and it was very close to summer. She should be very excited right now. But she just wasn’t the type to get all happy for a few months of a part time job, visiting your harping family, and doing nothing. All she had to do is stick around and follow society's rules and not your own, she didn't like this. But it was the way things have been, and it’s more of a pressing thing when you lived in a small town full of rednecks and potential pedophiles. There was a party that night, and everyone was gonna be there. She didn’t really care, the few friends that she had were gonna be there. But she didn’t want to go, her rule with these things is if someone important was gonna actually show up, then she’d go. But now that you get the picture, Puella has turned into a psychotic person that nobody really liked, You’ll see how the story is gonna pick up real quickly. Puella looked over to the seat to her right, there was a new girl that showed up just at the beginning of the month. So she wasn’t exactly filled in on everything and this was a good opportunity to make a new friend. This girl had this strange shade of cream and brown as her skin tone, She believed it was Khaki. She had chocolate freckles all over her face and shoulders, and long brown hair that was like a mane that was pulled back with a hair band. Her hands were average size, considering on Puella’s hands were pretty small. She wore a sleeveless white button down shirt, and some blue shorts with sandals. Her large eyes were focused on a few sheets of paper, Puella could not read it from there. But the girl’s gray eyes were transfixed on it, as if solving a riddle or a puzzle. The familiar buzz from the speakers rang through the school, Puella grabbed her satchel and threw it over her left shoulder. She stood up and she walked towards the door. Someone grabbed her right arm, she paused. A shiver ran down her spine and muscles, she turned. There stood the new girl, she was looking through Puella. It was like she was frozen in time, though it wasn’t a scary feeling, it was almost comforting. “Excuse me, I saw you come in this morning with a car, and I hear that you know this small town like the back of your hand. I also hear there’s a party tonight, so I was wondering if you could take me,” She said in a sweet, soft voice. Puella was so confused, there was no way she could get this kind of leverage under a month, the party wasn’t even planned that long ago. Either she was kissing a*s, or she was a Social Butterfly Wizard. “W-well, I have nothing else planned. So sure,” Puella said with a stutter. She was nervous even though she wasn’t into girls, she just wasn’t used to talking to them as people as she never met before instead of as a close friend or rival. “Where do you want me to pick me up,” Puella asked as she pulled her hand from the girl’s grip, and rubbed the back of her head. The girl smiled and she held her hands behind her back. “By that old windmill, how about Seven,” She replied as she cocked her head to the side. Puella nodded awkwardly and walked away. Puella was in the parking lot scrambling around for her keys, she walked up to her moms small gray car and grabbed the little controler and pressed the ‘Unlock’ button. “So then, my old friend. You heading home,” A familiar, yet a sickening voice sounded through Puella ears. She dared to look behind her, there stood her arch nemesis. Kayle Dowers, and the 5 girl posse. Puella Narrowed her light blue eyes and turned back around. “Yes.” “Are you coming to the party tonight,” she asks as she sits on the front of the car, still facing Puella. “Get off my car, Kayle.” She stormed over to Puella and she held her down on the windshield. “Look, if your prepared to come to that party to fight. You better be, because I’m gonna kick your a*s just like last year,” Kayle growled as she gave Puella one last push into the windshield before storming off with the rest of her posse. Puella slid up and turned towards her car again. “Nice threatening Kayle, need to work on your form though,” Puella yelled to her mockingly. Puella heard only muffled laughter, she was satisfied. Puella opened the driver’s seat door and hopped in. It was later in the night, about 6:40. Puella was driving up to the old windmill, she was contemplating her decision to go anyway. She didn’t know if it was for the girl, or if it was to just piss of her Arch Nemesis. She was even wondering about the girl, this girl was something that she has never seen before. Not even in the state Puella has ever seen someone that glowed so much, it kinda wanted to make her know more about this girl. Puella rolled up to the side of the road across the street from the windmill, the windmill was pretty standard, the mill was almost rotting, there were some huge holes in the roof, and there were vultures staring down the car like a carcass. Of course this made her uneasy, and she thought that she might be inside. Suddenly, The girl burst through the door, the vultures jumped and they flew into the air. The girl wore torn up jeans, a black letterman jacket and what looked like a band shirt. She pranced over to the drivers side of the car, and she knocked on the window. Puella was confused at first, but then she rolled down the window. “Hey! You showed up,” She exclaimed as she walked to the other side and got into the passenger's seat beside Puella. “Ya, I’m not exactly an a*****e. I keep my word,” Puella said as if this was basic information to her, which this was. The girl smiled sweetly as Puella started the ignition. They both sat in silence, Puella had no idea what to do. She could barely talk to her own friends, let alone a stranger. “So then,” Puella began, swallowing her fear. “What is your name exactly?” The Girl laughed hysterically, with her hands holding her head. Puella didn’t know what was so funny. “W-what’s so funny,” She asked, stuttering just a little bit. The Girl began to have more control of herself, finally bringing her head back up. “I thought you’d never ask! You just seem so shy,” She said with a little chuckle. “Anyway, my name is Amelie. What’s yours?” Puella gave up a little smile. “Mine’s Puella.” The two of them had parked with the other cars, they gazed at the cabin where dubstep was booming from inside. There were a few drunk teenagers laying in the front yard, and maybe a couple making out by a few bushes. Puella got out and slammed the door behind her, Amelie got out and did the same. Puella locked the car behind her and she shoved it in her jeans pockets. “Meet up with me when you want to leave,” Amelie asked as she looked at Puella looking for some form of agreement. Puella just nodded, Amelie quickly ran to the back of the cabin. Puella suspected that she was using pot or just meeting someone, so Puella just walked up to the door and she opened it up. There was a party going full circle, there was booze, weed, some vape pens. Puella didn’t like this one bit, it was time to drink away her sorrows with good old fashioned alcohol. As she walked over, she noticed people whispering, and staring at her. She knew that she wasn’t supposed to be there, but she didn’t like that people were pointing it out so obviously. She grabbed a solo cup like you see in movies and grabbed a bud light. She pulled the cap off and poured some for herself. “Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in,” The voice of Kayle said as if she was whispering into Puella’s ear. Puella sprang around, Puella saw a heart wrenching sight. She saw her Ex Boyfriend that lived in Albany holding Kayle under his arm like he was under a spell. “What do you know, even ‘smart’ boys fall under my gaze,” Kayle began as she burst into evil laughter. Puella felt betrayed, she wanted to cry but she couldn’t cry here. She dropped the bottle and she ran into the bathroom with her booze. She wasn’t used to having such a good person that she knew fall for someone as evil as Kayle Dowers. Puella looked into her solo cup, and chugged it until every drop was gone. Puella stood up, she felt the buzz kick in. But she wasn’t drunk. She has felt much worse than this. She stood up and walked out of the bathroom, she stumbled to the front door and she continued to walk past the two teenagers that were making out. She heard angry talking from where she was standing, so she tiptoed the rest of the way and peeked out behind the corner of the cabin. She saw Amelie talking to these two other grown men, they seemed very pissed at her. “What do you mean no, you’ve only lived here a few months and you hate everyone in this town! Joining us and killing the rest of the town would be great, plus you could get a few followers out of this,” The grown man to the right said in a big burly voice. “What would the Johnatelies think about this, dumbass! I’m sure you’d get a hit set on you guys for sure,” Amelie said angrily, as if she was talking about a dangerous mobster family. The man on the left began to tense up, he must have known of these people. “You wouldn’t, you know that you wouldn’t kill your pals,” He said, nervous of this unknown outcome. Amelie stepped up to him. “Oh really, would ‘pals’ really kill off the final living mortals you cared about and treating them like a slave for 15 straight years,” Amelie said up in his pointy face. The Man to the right punched her, sending her flying into a thin tree, knocking it down. This was the most unnatural thing Puella has ever seen, in fact, she was terrified. Puella reached into her Sweaters pocket to grab some knuckles and she slipped over her fingers on her right hand. “You don’t know a damn thing, girl! If we did anything, we saved you. We saved you from those horrible mortal's from your school, we gave you a better life than that Amy,” the man before said as his face began to deform into a long slender face with a witch like nose, and eyes that have sunken into his skull. Puella was very close to pissing herself, but she knew she couldn’t just watch this. She stumbled to her feet and she ran towards the man with the mutated face. She punched him in the face, and he stumbled into another tree. The other guy was in shock, as if he though Puella was a ghost. Puella swallowed her fear, and she narrowed her eyes onto the men. “You get away from her, I don’t know the whole story here. But I’ve heard enough to understand that you two creeps have no place here,” Puella said with a scowl and a little hussle in her voice to make her sound tough. The men backed away, seeing the dark side of this girl that wasn’t afraid to stand up for a fellow gal. They ran into the forest, disappearing into darkness. Amelie looked shocked, yet happy. She stumbled up and she rubbed the back of her neck. “Wow, I was surprised that you could even stand up to those guys. I swear that you looked like a mobster standing there,” She exclaimed as if Puella was an old Comrade, she knew why this was. Amelie wanted Puella to forget that this ever happened, and she had a right to act this way. “Amelie, I may not know you all that well. But I do know when someone is in deep s**t, so then,” She began as she walked towards a log that had long fallen to sit down. “Why don’t you tell me about your situation.” Amelie looked like she was found out, she swallowed her guilt and she walked over to sit beside Puella. “Are you sure about this, you barely know me. And I don’t think you’ll believe me no matter what I tell you. So are you prepared for crazy,” She asked as she turned to Puella. She wasn’t used to hearing something like this coming from someone else's mouth, Puella usually has to tell the other person this. “Well, I’m always prepared for crazy. I mean, I live in a small town,” Puella said jokingly, trying to lighten up the whole mood. She showed a nervous smile. “I’m just gonna say it,” She finally began. “I’m a vampire.” Puella was even more confused than before, this did kinda explain the old mill and that weird conversation about mortals. But Puella didn’t have a lot of proof that this event was impossible. Puella had heard about these blood sucking creatures from dracula and all that. So she was a bit curious. Amelie just noticed from Puella expression that she might have to explain further. She stood up and she stood up before Puella, she took off her letterman jacket and it dropped to the forest floor. Then, she began terraforming into a terrifying beast. She grew one whole foot, muscles formed on her like she took steroids, fur covered her head to toe. Long, bat like ears, huge bat wings, fangs that curved along the chin, and her large hands and feet were clawed. Puella was full of fear, But she was also filled with wonder. She shrunk down and, reformed herself. She couldn’t look Puella in the eye, as if she was ashamed of herself. Puella stood up to face her, she was only 5’1 and Puella was 5’3. Puella hugged her, just to make her feel a little better, Amelie’s arms wrapped around Puella’s torso. Puella could hear a soft whimper and her slow heartbeat, she wasn’t sure what to feel. She lightly pushed away to look up to Puella’s face, her eyes were welling up with tears. Puella raised one of her tiny hands to wipe away from her eyes, Amelie grabbed her hand and she leaned in. Soon Puella felt Amelie’s soft lips upon hers, Puella knew she was straight. She’s kissed boys, but for some reason this felt so right. She felt so at peace even though her life was speeding by a thousand miles an hour, this was Puella’s first kiss with a girl. © 2018 GraceAuthor's Note
