SuccumbA Chapter by poeticsafariA struggle to survive in a world not their ownA massed on the battled field the few of us that remained stood waiting and watching for what was about to come. The sky bleak and desolate an eerie silence invoked all surrounding, the wind now starting to stir shaking all the trees fiercely. We stood watching the massive structure hoping that nothing would come of it, out of the silence John spoke up “what the hell are we doing here?” “We don’t stand a chance against whatever this thing is.” “Just keep your gun loaded” Stephen yelled back. Suddenly the fierce and violent winds that picked up stopped as quickly as they had begun, the sky turning to a dark red color almost the color of blood. “Look at the ground” shouted John all five of them looked down to see the ground changing to a black lifeless color coming from the inner circle of trees that enclosed , all around us the grass turned from its luscious green color to pure black all the way up to the massive structure. The ground began to shake now; throwing all of us off balance, as an intense humming noise drew louder and louder blackening the sky with thousands of what appeared to be spirits all rapidly flying at the structure. “Fire!” Shouted John; All five of them began firing there machine guns aiming randomly at the large structure scoping these spirits one by one, but it wasn’t enough more and more of these things just kept coming ramming the large stone structure. Immediately we saw something that frightened us. The structure began to crack from the top all the way to the bottom rendering us with pure awe, “here it comes” shouted Stephen “there is no turning back now”. The shaking suddenly got more powerful throwing all of us to the ground. The giant stone structure now emitting a blinding and powerful light; rocks falling from atop smashing to the ground then when we thought that it couldn’t get any worse the entire structure exploded out in all directions sending a massive shockwave everywhere pinning us to the ground. Out of the massive structure stepped a creature its eyes were as black as the deepest part of the ocean, its horns sharp and covered with blood its tail massive and pointy thrashing about, finally its body was bigger than the structure itself. The creature shook almost as if it were waking up from an eternal slumber, knocking all the spirits and demons far away. All five us now staring up at this giant figure; unable to move. What are we going to do Ashley shouted, there’s nothing we can do bill said back, all we can do is wait and pray to god that we will be spared. © 2013 poeticsafari |
