Shadows

Don't say that you've seen me

with your eyes.

I can't be seen.

so if you say you have,

I know your lying.

I'm just a shadow

plain and simple.

I can't be seen,

but I can be felt.

 

I'm cold as ice.

I'm not human.

I don't sleep.

I don't breath.

but I can feel.

just like every other thing

that ever exsisted.

I may not be human,

but I still know the difference

between love

and hate.

 

I cannot see

but I hope.

I can hope, with all my might

that there's someone out there

who could love me.

Even though I'm not human.

I'm just a shadow.

Just a thing.

I don't even exsist, really.

But the thing about shadows, is

everyone has one.

They just don't always

notice that we're here.

 

But if you too, were a shadow

would you still

be able to feel?

Would you still

be able to hope?

And would you still

be able to love?

I don't think so.

 

 

 

 

 

Author's Note

This is a poem that goes out to all those people out there who don't feel like they are being seen. All those people, who feel like they don't fit in. This goes out to you. Because you aren't invisible. You aren't a shadow. And you can be seen. You just have to try. I sort of also wrote this for myself, because last year, there was a boy in one of my classes who, at the end of the year, asked me "what's your name?", after we had been in the same class for over a year. Basically, this poem is about how your not a shadow, and people do notice you. So why should you complain? Well there are lots of reasons. But you shouldn't think about them. All that matters is that your alive and well. So please, don't give up. I personally think your perfect just the way you are ^^

Wow, this is well worded and very descriptive. I love it! You are a true poet!
The message means so much to me. I have had tough years in school, not being seen, "a shadow"... So this poem means so much!! You should write a story about this poem. Like a person literally becomes a shadow! That would be amazing! If you don't want to write the story, I can make one for you!
