Forever On My Own

Forever On My Own

A Poem by Caitlin Furry

I’m listening to nothing but the breeze

Through the trees

As I sit here alone,

Forever on my own

I cry for your attention

Wanting nothing but to end this tension

Why do you walk out on me?

What else could there be?

I thought I’d have you

Forever and always

But you left me here with nothing

Forever on my own

I sit out in the rain

Doing my best to endure this pain

Can’t do much to ease the shame

Feeling I am to blame

All of this pain that I have caused

I have nothing but my flaws

To blame for your unhappiness

You begin to love me even less

I thought I’d have you

Forever and always

But you left me here with nothing

Forever on my own

I wake up crying from this nightmare

To the sun’s harsh glare

Fell asleep under our tree

Making it hard to see

You’re standing over me

Smiling, being soothing as can be

You tell me it’ll be alright

You take me into your arms, holding me tight

I knew I’d have you

Forever and always

You gave me all your love,

Never again on my own…

put them up who cares what others think
If you want some friendly advice, do not try to force the rhymes...try to make it sound more natural. You can leave a few in there to tie it all together but when words like rain blame shame and pain are used in a machine gun method it puts readers off,,I sit out in the rain...sheltering the shame inside...I can't endure the pain...Or something like that
