The Choosen One, Chapter 4

Aaron explains

Fear pumps through my veins and my eyes dart dart fearfully at the fast aproaching wolf-guy. Aaron and i are too closely backed up to the wall that even he couldnt change to wolf mode. I struggle to breath as the scary guy pulls out a knife from his pocket and flashes them a crooked smile. i feel powerless and weak.

 

I squeeze my eyes shut and the image of Aaron bleeding out on the ground with a knife in his chest crosses my mind and anger replaces my fear. No man will ever make me feel powerless. Ever. I will not be pushed around by some a** with a knife. No one decides my fate but me and being snatched (twice) is not the fate i choose. His wolves are killing people down there and i will not allow that to go on unnoticed. i. will. make. him. pay.

 

A gasp of shock startles me away from my gruesome thoughts and my eyes fling open. The first thing i see is the 'oh so tough' guy cringing to the side, a mixture of fear, awe and astonishment in his eyes. The sight amueses me, but when i see what troubles him, my smile vanishes. emerging from the pool is a long, thick, floating body of water snaking its way up to the ceiling, reminding me of a snake emerging from a basket by the sweet song of music.

 

I try and duck to avoid the snake-water, but the water ducks with me. Mystified, i straighten and slowly reach out my hand. Sure enough, the water straightens and a thinner stripe of water sprouts from it and stretches to meet my reaching fingers. i gasp and pull back my hand. the water does the same.

 

"Uh, are you doing this?" Aaron, who had froze once the water started moving, said uncertaintly.

 

i gulp and nod. the other leader guy whimpers and i fix my eyes on his cowering figure. I  take a deep breath and focus on the body of water. i focus on mentally forming the water into a minature wave and, like im molding it myself, the water shifts into, well, a wave. Then, like im throwing a baseball, i fling out with my arms and the water crashes down ontop of the dude and he falls in a pool of thrashing water.

 

"Lets get out of here," i tell Aaron and delicatly hop over the streaming water.

 

Since the scary dude isn't blocking the door anymore, i easily get past him and down the door. I hurry down the hall and thunder down the spiral stairs. i dont look to see if Aaron follows, and frankly i dont care. what i care about is making sure Aarons pack is unharmed. Once i reach the floor, i cross the room in two bounds and fling open the door.

 

The yard is empty. Theres no wolves what so ever. No dead wolves, no limping, no nothing. its like they just vanished. if it wasnt for all the blood caking the grass, i wouldnt even have guessed there was a battle here, if there was one. i quizzically look around the yard, thinking i must be out of my mind. I feel a tingling at the back of my neck and know instantly that Aaron is standing behind me.

 

i set my hands firmly on my waist and say, "Okay, now theres definitly not something your telling me. i want to hear the whole story and i want to hear it now."

 

Aaron laughs and as i turn to face him, he says, "Sure thing, your highness. ill escort you inside and bring you a silver platter full of answers."

 

"Im not kidding, Aaron. if you think this is a big joke, then you had better get your head of of your rear end and answer me for once!" i say, my voice rising to a yell.

 

he puts his hands up in a feeble surrender gesture and says, "Fine ill tell. but you might wanna get comfy. its a long story."

 

He plops down on the grass and i warily sit down as well.

 

Aaron sighs, "Where to begin? why dont we start with Pluto. Pluto was a moon child, also known as a vampire. all the insanity started after i led my pack into a raid on a vampire nest. as you probably know, werewolves and vampires have a long history for hating each other. us shifter liked and protected the humans, so we dont take kindly to vampires slaughtering them for their own food.every now and then, when a new coven of vampires settle down in nearby towns, we raid their nests, trying to rid them of the town and their people.

 

"so we had just finished raiding a vampire nest and Pluto and about five other vampires escaped and fled the town. Pluto was not used to being thrown out of his home, so he and his buddies joined another coven and they hatched a plan to get revenge on my pack. One of my wolves found out and we allied ourselves with another pack from a town nearby.

 

"there was a big battle, and many died. but in the end, we won and chased Pluto and some other escapees out of this country. We thought we were rid of him, but it is not so. All packs received a warning from the great wolf goddes Lupa that Pluto is returning with revenge on his mind.

 

"She told us of a very powerful person that would either save us . . . or destroy us. We tracked her down and changed her into one of us . . . and that person was you, Trinity Strix."
