In the shade, out in the sunA Poem by QuilandInkA short poem about dark and lightThe sun is out, casting the world in a blinding light The old and young come out, to warm their skin before the night, falls, and consumes the world In an Inky back.
This is no time to talk of the dark for the sun is out and warms the skin It turns the olive to brown and the pale to red. But the night will soothe those who have been scorched, It will hide the fiery sun Yet, it is not the time to talk of the dark.
The sun still stands clouds melt as if made of ice Trees bend to cast no shadow. We will burn in fiery bliss Until the night calls, and blots out the sun and sends out the moon to show, the battle is won.
But the victory is short lived for here comes the sun to rise again The battle is never-ending, although some last longer than others. It is inevitable, the sun shall set and the sun shall rise. Light and dark, day and night Neither will ever win this fight.
