The truth about love

The truth about love

A Poem by fundamellie
"

written about a (back then) happy relation, inspired by W.H.Auden

"
Love, it lives high up there on a mountain
And it’s difficult to reach that top
It even got invited to a game show
But despite its appearance it was a terrible flop.

Sometimes it moves like a cancer
Carefully backwards
And love can get quite sugar-coated
With the help of lemon tarts.

Love sometimes lives in boring towns
Or in hotel rooms near Earl’s Court
And if you like to go shopping
You might take it home with the things that you bought.

Sometimes it sings under the shower
And it doesn’t have a perfect voice
But I tell you it doesn’t matter
It would always be my first choice!

Love is in so many little things
Which become special when they’re shared
Like soap-operas on TV
Or Marc chest, once it’s bared.

Like rhinestones and glittering stars
Late breakfast and coffee on Sundays
And the silly things you do when you’re young
When you don’t hang around all those bars.

Love sometimes lasts a whole lifetime
And some might think that it’s scary
And six years are over and others still wonder
When we will intend to marry!
