Chapter 4: Leaving It All Behind

Chapter 4: Leaving It All Behind

A Chapter by Gracee

After having a wonderful dinner with the Adelsig's (OMG, it's my last name now, too!) and a totally fun and unique game of Scrabble, Xav (I still haven't gotten used to calling him dad) drives me home and helps me pack until 11:30pm. Before I head to bed, I walk through the empty halls of my now lifeless house, and I take in every memory. I lie on the floor of the guest room and peer up; my mom put all of the photographs on the ceiling. Mom and dad  kissing on the beach in The Hamptons, my mom's first ultra sound with me, my mom when she was pregnant with me, my dad with me in his arms, and...an added picture! Ehmagawd! A ripped picture of our family...with only me left. I choke back angry tears and I let those tears soak back into my body, because I know that I have a home and I havr a loving new family. And I was leaving it all behind for the better--not the worse. And I, Noa Faith Adelsig, belong in a nurturing, loving, family oriented life--and that's just what I am about to get.
