Chapter 3: Home--Maybe?

Chapter 3: Home--Maybe?

A Chapter by Gracee

After 7th Period was over, Devon and I swagger over to Drew's locker. Drew's swings on his backpack, and we head out the large glass doors of the building.
"Mom and Dad will be expecting you, Noa, so be sure to make yourself at home and act like you, the person I already know and love in a single day." Devon explains.
After crossing the uber long cross walk outside of school, Drew informs me they live exactly 2 blocks away from SGJH (Seattle Grace Junior High), and that Seattle Grace hospital is exactly 2 blocks away from their house. Devon and Drew's parent's work at the hospital as afternoon cardiac surgeons! I think I'm going to love it at the Adelsig house!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The wet steps leading up to their 1927 ArtDeco house are painted like a rainbow puddle, and their door is 100% stained glass.
Drew, being the super cute, super sweet boy that he is opens the door for both of us, flashes me a smile, and walks in.
Mr. and Mrs. Adelsig are making pastries and pretending they are on a cooking show, and they are cracking up. I wish my parents had been as kind as them. Devon and Drew walk into the kitchen tap on their parents shoulders, and point towards me. I wave really small.
"Noa, that is your name, correct?" I nod, and Mr. Adelsig continues, "It is so wonderful to meet you! Devon called me after her lunch and told me all about you and your story." I see tears filling his eyes. "Kahti and I would love to make you part of our family," he says, gesturing towards his wife. "You see, when I was 14, a tad bit older than you, my mother left me. She gave birth to me when she was 18 and felt as though she had raised me well, but wanted to go start a new life with a new husband and new children. She said I just wasn't in her dream life. And she left. Forever." I walk over to Mr. Adelsig, and he opens his arms up and I come in, and I feel at home. "Oh and by the way, sweetie," he whispers into my ear, "You can call me Xav, it's short for Xavier. Or better yet, call me dad." I am sobbing to my hearts content and Kahti comes over with Devon and Drew, and they all envelope me in love.
I peer over to the dining room table, and there, lying nonchalantly are adoption forms filled out from head to toe, except for one thing, my signature, and I take out a pen and sign.
I'm home.
