Your Silent Love

Ever been scared to confess your feelings to someone?

I see you every day in the halls.

I talk to you every day before class.

But I can't tell you everything. I can't find it in me.

I'm the one you come to for homework help.

No, you're not bugging me. I'm glad to help.

I'd do anything for you, you know.

I love you. If only I could say it.

If only I could tell you...

Who did you come to, heartbroken and in tears?

That's right, me. But I couldn't tell you.

I've always been your crying shoulder.

I've always been your confidante.

It hurts to see you so sad.

More than anything, I want to be the one to make you happy.

But, can I really do that? That thought scares me.

If only I could tell you...

I'd sweep you off your feet.

I'd do anything for you.

But, can I really do that? Once again my insecurities haunt me.

I'm afraid of rejection. What then?

I'm afraid of things changing between us. Of losing you forever.

Maybe things are fine the way they are?

Maybe we never were meant to be?

My insecurities still haunt me.

Oh, if only I could tell you...

But I suffer in silence.

I want you to be happy.

I want what's best for you.

But am I what's best for you?

My insecurities still haunt me.

Until then, I will always be your silent love.

Author's Note

Just sort of a free-write, venting some pent-up emotion from my past. The inspiration came from Kelley's status.
"The greatest pain that comes from love is loving someone you can never have."
I guess I could really relate to that...

WOW I inspired this? This was such a great poem.
I was thinking along these lines last night myself.
