Alcohol

Alcohol

A Poem by Friks

Alcohol

...

The deathbed of the restless mind.

Alcohol

...

Pleasure of a disposable kind.

Alcohol

...

Never asks any questions.

Alcohol

...

Something you forgot to mention.

Alcohol has many a friend and it has a reputation of sorts, trusted by so many to do what it does so good. Backstabber! While the mind is put at ease the body it is in charge of is left to the dogs of negligence and sly pleasure. This fluid friend is the film between your perspective and your ever reoccurring reality.

It's influence on your life is about as uplifting as a shallow conversation and as lasting as a wish not to die.

Alcohol

...

Artificial congeniality.

Alcohol

...

Mutual depravity

How about some respectably ecstatic longevity, some simple, honest quality.

~ Just a thought for an ethanol fueled society.

Author's Note

Friks
Spurred on by my new found resentment of excessive alcohol consumption and what it is doing to the people I see.

the presentation and construct of this poem you've penned is powerful and hard hitting~ and I'm of the same mind set~ escape and detachment through chemical means (I especially detest excessive alcohol use as I've personally watched it destroy lives unto death) might as well be the first nail in a human being's cognitive coffin~
