Gypsy Antidote ~

Gypsy Antidote ~

A Poem by Frieda P
"

_fire burns as an exhale_ élan vital is the vital force or impulse of life

"

There's a gypsy that taunts me,
     haunts me to awakening revival,
   wandering & aimless in stillness
     heart of crystalline titanium
   spirited garden of lofty lavender,
uneasy dreams, condors and butterflies
fly amidst poisons within imploding star,
   breasts heave heavily and dream
in this fire that burns as an exhale
translucent cobalt blue in its scope,
far off lands like cotton candy embers
heard the heat of drums & magical flutes
     photosynthesis of atomic rainbows
        whirling mazes loom overhead
      snowflakes burst to flames,
          restless doves coo urgency
  seasons scheme to proselyte
     foreigners in hasty slow motion,
authentic sighs took a long naked drag,
reluctantly see me as a stranger
      the soul nods, subtly concurs,
          thoughts overcame this paradox
                 pressed to strip toxic exposure,
desert rose lit upon a dark moon's
             intoxicating perfume'd desire
gleaned the essence as an unveiling
in the bared fervor of  élan vital

Great song first of all ;)

Ah, cotton candy embers, snowflakes bursting to flames...heaving breasts...you know I love that stuff Mrs.R :) This is such a vivid and vibrant piece, colourful, imaginative, and full of emotion, doled out in equal measures of rawness and subtlety...the whole thing is one long naked drag...this is definitely a favourite...like I said, it's just so deep and evocative...the whole thing has a kaleidoscopic feel to it...anyways I won't go on too much more cuz I want to get this review in quick...I'm still reveling in this one though.....again, this is definitely one of your more vibrant pieces, just full of life and dancing and good things...love it :) xo

There's a bit of the gypsy in all of us, and you paint her portrait with wild brushstrokes Frieda.

Frieda, Perfection! You captured the restless sexual energy that is inherent (or expected?) in beautiful wanton gypsy women everywhere. They have this beautiful intoxicating dance and flow of middle eastern music and cadence. This one transported me to another time and another place....Loved it!

that song is one of my favorites, btw. and the poem - perfect companion.
photosynthesis of atomic rainbows
whirling mazes loom overhead
snowflakes burst to flames,
you are so adept at capturing an emotion and expanding it so that it can be seen in a new way.

This reads almost like an incantation… a reaching out to past that might have been… to future set free.

The images you invoke capture the essence of the gypsy. I can almost see it and smell it. This is an excellent write. Thanks for sharing the gypsy in you.

My youngest sister used to spend a weekend every year with the gypsies when they made their annual visit to town. She was always invited to sing for gypsy weddings. How cool is that.

I have lived a Gypsy life till lately. Good to know dark places where walls don't control your destiny. I love the places and the description. Create good places and visions with your words. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
