Lost religion...

Lost religion...

A Poem by Frieda P
"

an old scar revisited, please stop spewing religion to me, I have my own beliefs...Amen

"
You kiss the gray,
   without doubting fluidity
in validity's lividity
true colors discourage faith
   flying without wings,
          in sing- song's
       ambushed blindness
sad melody of flippant travesty
   swallowed the pill of crazy
    taught to be elusively blithe
played in rote from beginning's rhyme
     vinyl scratches misses and hits
empty tanks given notes of faction's repose
      believe the temporary sleeping giants
not to be awakened within osculation
torn from the loins of lion's dens
   sweet mysteries of yesteryear,
     bitterly twisted lusting embers,
never snuffed out in a place of retention
lives within the confines of distance skies
broken trusts swallowed and dispersed
my eyes roll back in my head for sight,
fleeting recognition of stories unfolded
                           once upon a time
dream a dream if slumber should awake thee,
taken out of the equation of perception
no words that make sense but pierce the soul
lost my religion with the plot
pricked by the thorny rose a thousand wishes deep

UFF DA! Ok I'll bite. (but not hard) first this is a powerful write and I think those lines speak loudest to me. I am a Christian. I have a relationship with God. (its dysfunctional - we're working on that) and that's the key. When you take it by rote, when you swallow the pill and you never ever look God square in the eye and make it personal - when you dole out judgement for your laundry list of sin's based on someone else's hierarchy of almostbutnotquitegoodenough all you're going to get is scorn from those you're trying to help. If God can reach a human in the darkest place - who the hell are you to wait until that person is sanitized for your convenience. Only God can change a heart - and the heart has to be agreeable to the change. Period. I get this poem Miss Frieda. If it offends someone - that someone needs to do a heart check, you know? Bravo!

I believe it is man who puts all the spin and self-denoting/accommodating interpretations on religion and the writings of holy books pertaining to that particular faith!

A wonderful piece of moral poetic philosophy penned in a non intrusive and imaginative style, splendid indeed Frieda P.

So true indeed!
When I learned what Hell was ,I was terrified by what I call "Bible beaters" and "pew jumpers". My spiritual relationship with my God/Gods is individual. Based upon my own humanistic DNA. None can be repeated. I totally agree with the view that one is welcome to share a belief, but never should man own another's. Excellent writing as always Frieda!

Honestly this is such a good poem, with so many amazing lines and images, that I'm not sure I can address the subject matter directly...you know how I feel about it anyway...I'm a spiritual person but I'm not a preacher, and you'll never see a poem from me on spiritual matters, unless I could write something like this of course, which I can't, because there is so much more to this poem that deserves to be acknowledged and not overshadowed by the theme...

The only way I can read this one is from an introspective standpoint cuz there are so many parts that I relate to...the only time I really see anything anymore is when I roll my eyes back...the third line, even though it's one of the simpler images, just blew me away, and in many ways, I think it's the cornerstone of the piece...it's completely relative to the psychology of religious warfare, and the struggle to understand why religion is used to for such vile purposes...of course I loved the last line as well...I wish I wrote this one...as angry as you may have been when you wrote it, it's incredibly eloquent and vivid, and another for the already mile-long list of Mrs.R favourites...awesome work love, you just nailed it with this one...xo

Oh boy, religion.
The root of so much evil...
I don't mind conversation about religion, I'm not religious in the least but I love the 'stories'.
But people should respect the boundaries and know when to back off when it comes to 'preaching'

I think no one has the right to try and force their beliefs down another person's throat. What you believe and have faith in and what I do may be two different things but its our choice and we can't tell ourself that our way is the only way. That is stupid .I get this chica.Great write ;-)

Lol you have that covered so I'm jumping on your bandwagon.
At least you have a religion that in itself is a discovery of sorts some of us are destined to exhile to the nevermore of ideologies straight up a possitive right there. What a great image the one with the vinyl missing and hitting. I feel quite passive with respect to this writing maybe I am missing something. I often do. On the one hand the acknowledgment that something or someone is spewing religion yet on the other hand the acceptance that you think you have a religion. I do however re- take the journey with perception that are not able to pierce the soul. It is great to get prickled especially if it reminds you that you hurt when doing so.

Some amazing images here I'll leave you with a quote from a book i have recently read "If god really wanted people to be free of [wicked thoughts], he should have taken more care to invent a different species."

Thankyou

Fantastic poem Frieda, I have no religion but I have devised my own beliefs over time and have now got things straight in my head, so what I am saying is I am glad if that is how you feel too, no need for preachers to teach us and it does make you write great work. Bravo!

Thanks so much John, I know your feelings on this subject already, glad you 'felt' this one....
Each person finds their way in this f*cked up world and only you can decide what you believe or don't believe. My friend, who is Jewish, lost hers when she visited a concentration camp. Just like that, she walked away from faith. I found it sad, but yet, I understood. Standing in that place she couldn't believe there was a God who would allow that to happen. I have been devout, agnostic, and now have reached some weird in between where I can peer at it from all angles and be comfortable in the God of my own choosing. Blasphemy, perhaps, for some, but for me it works. I don't expect anyone but me to get it, and I don't push my thoughts or beliefs on anyone, except to defend my right to have them, just as you and everyone else have their rights.
