Poppies stand on guard...like generals who dole out the rules from the safe confines of their offices...the irony in that statement is overwhelming, and the most fitting end there could be...you just have a way of looking at things like no one else Mrs.R...this is a different kind of commentary for you, but who would ever notice the difference? You take every subject and make it your own...I think the irony of that ending is made all the more potent by the opener: you won...and from there you take us on the journey of how to win a war, and it isn't pretty...
You know, I never thought of this until just now, but it's almost like you were channelling War Pigs by Black Sabbath...the images you evoke are not unlike the images in that song...in fact, they're downright uncanny in some spots...when you're channelling Sabbath you know you've written something dark and unsavoury...you've done it again love...I am truly affected by this work...xo

The reality of the world is harsh and ugly and exactly like "Jesus took a a recess" If only it could be the way you imagined beautiful and serene but people are too hell bent on destruction I think.Awesome pen chica very thought provoking.

You are welcome and its because people are so damn fickle.
dear Frieda... I understand the futility of
war as the Poppies stand guard... in that
I understand your eloquent pen as it flows
across the parchment of my heart. We
have been visiting the serene Lilly pond
at Chatham Heights in Fredericksburg, Virginia
close to where we live where much of the
Civil war took place. As the metal sculpture of
a fish spouts water ... My thoughts are of our
country and the world situation fulfilling
prophecy ... and so wanting it to not be so.
truly... Pat ... yes when Pandora's box is
opened ... Yet... there is hope . Amen...

A world of opposites, not only intriguing, not only varied in weight as the first part does transfix into a state of "what destruction and ignorance has to offer" as at times ignorance will bring an outcome which wasn't even expected. It is decribed sometimes as "unaware" or "unconcious". So when "war games withot battle won" is laid down you can only but watch with what to me is becoming a familiar feeling of acceptance. Although dark and heavy very clever touch with " chanted prior to the apocalypse being stoked" as if a swan song was required for moments like this.
And then just like that Frieda grabs me by the neck and as if I was tall ans skinny (and on a leach) thrown inot a Claude Monet scene of redeeming value more even therapeutic as trying to balance what its predecesor had revealed to us. But is not without a sign of remorse and warning as the Poppies are standing guard.
There are warning signs written all over this
Thankyou

Oh my, you blew me away again, I adore Monet....thanks for this stunning review Rene.
Never have i though 4 words could bury so many thought into my head. The poem is beyond good. This is smart and drench in disgust, and cries out all the things that we have accomplished... which is only for ourselves. Thank you for this.

Wow Corey, thanks for this glowing review, you humble me...
It is like you just took a coin and showed me the "heads" side, for all its pain, its suffering, its gruesomeness, then flipped it to "tails" and showed me the beauty of what it could be like, what it should be like, what dreams are made of.. such beauty and magic in your pen... you never cease to amaze me girl..

I think this is my favorite of yours so far. I especially loved part two, with its hope. And anything with fireflies is entrancing to me. Your final line was perfect closure.
If you want to know me, read my poetry, it's all in there. I am a mother of three sons (my finest moments) a sister, a survivor and a little bit crazy. I lost my beloved sister to suicide, so you'll.. more..
