sipping coffee with a rock star from Mars....‏

A Poem by Frieda P
"

random rumbling's ramble

"
Flammable dandelions in my iced lullaby
nostalgia for one in a cage's gilded alibi
wild horses on fire, rocking a bloody sun
castles crumble in the needle of an eye
layover collision in the hiccups of whimsy's madness
ecstasy's debacle'd brambles were twice forsaken
dancing in dove stew's handicapped heart lounge
raven and the butterfly had a pity party at the peanut gallery
audacious pomposity came to call, veer'd a left to stage right
tripping over images in rear hue mirror's kaleidoscopic view
bodacious Beethoven rumbles a thousand poetic kisses deep
whilst Walt slayed fractured Krakens cawing on his way to green,
once upon a dream and pomegranate wine's zephyr'd promises
canopied under wild thyme blowing in poppy's scarlet rhymes
still I sat quietly, sipping coffee with a rock star from Mars....

Wow, just wow...there is no review I can offer that can do justice to this undisputed epic...you continue to outdo yourself and blow me away in the process...I have no lines to single out, for every one is absolute perfection...of course the title hooked me on impact, but the poem that followed is one of the best things I've read in a long time...even the clip is perfect...you know I love elemental imagery, and the clash of fire and ice right out of the gate was enough to leave me awestruck...it will be a criminal act if this does not appear on the top of every meaningful list on the site...this felt like a visit to a coffee shop on Mars, but I could go to Mars myself, and not in my wildest dreams would I come back with something like this...'raven and the butterfly had a pity party at the peanut gallery'...I suppose this line is the unofficial cornerstone of the poem, but how can one truly pick out a cornerstone in this feast of poetic brilliance? I can say nothing more, I am out of superlatives...this is phenomenal poetry from the most phenomenal poet I know...you're a pretty phenomenal person too ;) This should be in an Oxford anthology, and would not be out of place amongst the grandmasters of any era, and I have lots of anthologies...again, I can only offer an unequivocal wow...xo

wow...I love the surrealism in this, but the lines "nostalgia for one in a cage's gilded alibi" and "once upon a dream and pomegranate wine's zephyr'd promises" are simply amazing. Kinda sounds like love gone wrong. A good blend of myth and fantasy. Penny

I like trippy, thanks KL.
I saw David Bowie in concert … in Calgary … slept out in minus 25 to get the tickets. Me and a lot of middle-aged people smoking pot … I was in high school; I was not smoking pot; just shivering until my limbs froze in place. Great, great concert. Long live the Thin White Duke. Awesome write, Frieda.

Well this was certainly a wild ride! Love the images; having a maze-in-the-mind kind of day, and your words made me feel at home.

Ha I'm in good company so!? Thanks Rita. :)
Watching heaven break apart at the seams and feeling like it is a "castle crumble (ing) in the needle of an eye". 'Twas truly a spectacle to read this, I enjoyed it muchly.

Jazz'd you enjoyed Tai, thanks muchly. :)
For a ramble this is really lovely! Your works are always so "out of this world" and visionary :) Always enjoyable.

The movie looks awesome! I almost saw it last weekend, but I saw Dawn of the planet of the Apes instead ^^

well, coming from the "peanut gallery" I'd say it makes for a great start to the day.. Yes, ma'am... pass the coffee cuz I am dancing along with the beauty of your magical mind... Those "hiccups of whimsy's madness" are so deliciously delightful when coming from you.... love this song.. I haven't ever heard it before, but jeez... gave me images alone with the melody, added to your words had me swaying sensually with a few of Mar's inhabitants... why should I have to stay on venus?... I wanna play to.. nice job ma'am.. as always.. so enchanting are your creations..

A bit fractured to me...but I'm only running on 4 cylinders today.
Enjoyed the illustrative words and as always the sparkle of your metaphors..
